Menu World produces order processing systems employing off-the-shelf
wireless handheld computers for use in table service restaurants

Our wireless handheld order processing system allows your restaurant to take orders at the table and immediately send them back to the kitchen, bar, etc., allowing food/drink preparation to start immediately while the waitperson continues to take orders for other tables. When there is a line outside the door, this means higher table turn rates and increased revenue per available seat hour.
After a table order is sent from the handheld, it is split up into suborders that appear on touchscreens in different preparation areas that will make the different parts of the order. When a "prep" area receives its part of the order, the preparer acknowledges and prints the suborder by touching the button on the screen corresponding to the order. After the preparer finishes preparing the item(s), the "Completed" button is touched. When all suborders are complete for a table, the completed table order appears on a "Server" screen, indicating that all parts of the order are complete and that it is ready to serve.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page HERE

On high volume days, by using an expediter stationed at the Server screen waiting to serve orders as they come up, waitstaff can stay in the dining room to provide more personalized service, and get more time to up-sell desserts, wines, etc. What's more, since waitstaff are freed from having to serve, they can service significantly MORE tables at the same time. Waitstaff need no longer worry about getting double or triple sat. As soon as the drink and / or appetizer order is taken at the first table, they can move on to the second, then the third, with the confidence of knowing that the orders are already being processed and soon to be delivered. In addition to the order showing up on the "Server" touchscreen, an order ready notification also appears back on the handheld. On low volume days this allows a restaurant to not have to use an expediter, thereby saving labor costs, since waitstaff can get the orders themselves, as they get notified on the handheld.
