FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What happens if I drop the handheld?
A. We supply a specially designed two-part case to solve this problem. The first part attaches to the
waiter's waist and the second part surrounds the handheld and is attached to the first part with a
metal recoil tether so that the unit can never hit the floor

Q. Do you use any full-sized fixed terminals in the system?
A. For entering orders, we ONLY use full-sized touchscreens at the bar and for a dedicated cashout area.
Other than that ALL orders from the floor are taken on the handheld.  We also use touchscreens at
every kitchen station, as they serve as the kitchen display system we call our "Food Flow System".

Q. I have a 60 seat restaurant. Would this system be good for me?
A. Probably not, mainly due to the cost. Our systems are designed for high-volume table service restaurants
that need the type of speed and level of service we can deliver.

Q. How many tables can a waiter take at one time using the handheld?
A. There is no set limit on this. A waiter with a little bit of experience with the handheld can comfortably
service 10 tables at once (assuming a good mix of tables from 2-tops to 8-tops). A more experienced
waiter can sustain about 12 at one time throughout the evening, while STILL mainting a high level of
customer satisfaction. This is accomplished due to the fact that food runners are being used to deliver
     everything including drinks.

Q. How do the food runners know where to go, and who gets what when they get there?
A. When orders come up on the food runner touchscreen, the food runner touches the box corresponding
to an order that needs to be served. A ticket is printed that contains the table number, order number and
a listing of each item to be delivered by seat number around the table.  Since orders are taken by seat
number on the handheld, that information flows through to the food runner. When the food runner arrives
at the table, there's no need to ask who gets what.

Q. How much does it cost and what do I get?
A. The smallest configuration we sell is $23,500 (USD) and includes 4 handhelds, a full-sized bar touchscreen
/computer for entering bar orders, a dedicated service bar touchscreen/computer for receiving drink orders
from the handhelds, 2 computer/touchscreens for the Entree/Appetizer station and Salad/Dessert areas
respectively, 1 touchscreen/computer for the food runner station, and 1 dedicated touchscreen/computer
used only for printing and settling checks. Each of the touchscreen computers comes with a thermal printer
except for entree/appetizer area which comes with an impact printer (due to the heat). Also included
in the price is the main server computer (which runs everything), two high-power wireless access points
(that the handhelds communicate with to exchange information with the main computer), all network
hardware (switches, print servers, Category 5 cabling), onsite installation, and training. Normal lead time
is 3 weeks, although we may be able to be quicker depending on the particular circumstances.
